Minnesota psychologist Irving Gottesman won the 2013 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award in Psychology for helping explain the basis of schizophrenia and how to classify mental disorders. He also identified genetic and environmental risk factors that can help determine whether someone may eventually develop mental illness. He recently discussed his winning ideas during a visit to UofL.
