Gone With Tides is a short documentary film about the threat to the Balikpapan Bay in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, that results from the proposed expansion of the Kariangau Industrial Area (KIK) along the east coast of the Bay, and the proposed Balang Island that would cause an unnecessary detour of the Trans Kalimantan Highway along the coast of Balikpapan Bay.

The industrial expansion would result not only in an incredible loss of biodiversity but also in enormous water pollution, erosion and sedimentation that would completely destroy livelihoods of the local fishermen communities.

The primary mangroves and rainforest represent habitat of proboscis monkeys, sun bears, orangutans and numerous other wildlife. In the sea, we can find dugongs, Irrawaddy dolphins, estuarine crocodiles, and
rich variety of fish and crustacean
