#VevoLIFT Julia Michaels loves self-expression and sees tattooing as a kind of parallel to the creative process that has made her a star in the last two years. “You’re trusting someone to put something so permanent on your body; it’s the same with songwriting, where you have someone come in and help you articulate words into an emotion – there’s a trust there.” Michaels has several tats, but to celebrate the arrival of her debut album ‘Nervous System,’ she decided to add another. ‘Becoming Julia Michaels’ follows our LIFT artist to see her favorite body artist, London Reese, at The Black Lantern in Dana Point, CA. She was getting a “KISS HERE” message put on her neck, and as we documented the process, Michaels explained the inspiration behind some of her previous choices, including a graphic of a heart on a sleeve and the essential “JUST BREATHE.”
