WebGL is a cross-platform, royalty-free web standard based on OpenGL ES 2.0. WebGL is shader-based using GLSL, bringing plugin-free 3D to the web, directly into the browser.
The WebGL BOF at SIGGRAPH this year will be comprised of lightning talks demonstrating delivery of leading edge 3D content in the browser:
- Patrick Cozzi, Analytical Graphics Inc: Cesium: WebGL for Globes and Maps - Won Chun, Google: Geometry compression - Ben Vanik, Google: WebGL asset management - Brandon Jones: Crunch/DXT/Rage demo - Tony Parisi - Dov Amihod and Thiago Costa, GetTeamUp - Fabien Cellier: OpenScalesGL - Kristian Sons, DFKI: XML3D - Johannes Behr, Fraunhofer: Out of Core Rendering Techniques - Fabrice Robinet and Brandon Jones, Motorola: COLLADA2JSON - John Congote, Vicomtech: ReWeb3D - Bill Baxter and James Darpinian, Google: MapsGL
