A record participation rate in the voluntary Ulpan programs saw Israel come alive for over 80% of Year 10 students last year.

The first group, on the 11 week program, flew out in late October to spend six weeks studying, working and living on kibbutzim in the Beit Shean area. In December they were joined by students on the five week program and both groups toured Prague together, as they gained an insight into the once thriving Jewish communities of Eastern Europe.

After returning to Israel they enjoyed a busy five weeks of classes, tours and volunteer work. A special emphasis was placed on 'hasbara' with students taking part in seminars and discussions to gain a greater understanding of both sides of the Israel-Arab conflict.
