This is Mississippi John Hurt's arrangements of one of the most widespread and popular African-American folksongs from the immediate pre-blues era, as discussed in Elijah's book "Escaping the Delta: Robert Johnson and the Invention of the Blues." Hurt's original recording of this song was made in 1928, as "Ain't No Telling." For more information on Elijah's music and writing, visit http://www.elijahwald.com
