"Deisis" was composed by 18-year-old George - Emmanuel Lazaridis, in 1996. It was commissioned by Anatolia College in association with the Cultural Capital of Europe 'Thessaloniki 1997' organization, to commemorate the City of Thessaloniki. Thus the work is based on old Christian texts by Saint Demetrios, the City's guardian Saint. It was performed at the 'Aristotle University Hall' in Thessaloniki - Greece, on December 22 - 1997, in the final Gala Concert of the 1st European Youth Chorale Festival organized by Anatolia College. The European Youth Chorale is conducted by world famous choir conductor and pedagog, Peter Erdei. Soprano Solos are performed by Sofia Kyanidou. On the piano, George - Emmanuel Lazaridis himself, now internationally acclaimed pianist and composer.
