One has only to look in our own backyard to find the need to promote understanding of our cultural differences. We are not strictly a White Christian nation as is promoted by the narrow-minded. We are a nation of immigrants - a country that was founded on the acceptance of peoples from different origins, religions and ethnic groups.

The face of diversity: expanding our understanding of ethnicity in the Southwest

This country continues to evolve and the diversity of its population make-up changes with every new generation and wave of immigration. My goal is to embrace, celebrate and expand our understanding of ethnicity with distinctive portraits of character through extended photographic journeys

celebrate diversity.....inform.....demonstrate.....and, embrace the opportunity

Continuing my enduring commitment, I have chronicled the long-established ethnic groups in the region, as well as the new-comers that are changing the landscape. With their cultural influences in family, food, lifestyle and trades, I reach out to those from all walks of life, whether in service, agriculture, ranching, artists, even the corporate world; or, from government and their daily interaction with other minority and non-minority groups. The Southwest is also rich with non-Hispanic and non-Native ethnic populations -- African, Asian and Middle-Eastern groups are gaining a foothold. But even those communities are changing with new waves of immigrants resulting from political and economic events in other parts of the world.
