Based on the independent video game by Capybara Games and Superbrothers. -- The music is two tracks from the original Sword and Sworcery OST by Jim Guthrie. -- Sword and Sworcery is a decidedly quirky but the none the less enchanting and even moving independent iphone game. You take on the role of the warrior/monk Scythian (a heroine in a refreshing twist) and voyage throughout lands with historical names but fantastic surroundings in search of the Trigon Trifecta: three mystic triangles bearing clear homage to another famous fantasy series. And there in lies the weirdness of this title. Not only is most of the dialogue satirical but the 'host' who configures your settings and drops hints is a man in a modern day business suit seated in a chair, called The Archetype. You can even meet the soundtrack designer himself in game for a jam session. For all this it would seem a straight parody, but Sword and Sworcery has it's share of sumptuous vistas, visual puzzles, tense moments and even tragic circumstances which elevate it about parody and homage into...something else. The haunting and original score certainly helps.
