On Sept. 17, 2015, the SMU Hunt Institute for Engineering & Humanity, along with sponsors and community partners, presented a half-day program—an official conference of COP21 Paris, the United Nations Conference on Climate Change scheduled for December 2015. The SMU conference, held in the Martha Proctor Mack Ballroom on the SMU campus, is part of a series of pre-COP21 Paris sessions called “FACTS: French Ameri-Can Climate Talks,” which are being organized by the Embassies of France in both Canada and the United States. In this first part, Dr. Eva Csaky, Director of the Hunt Institute, convenes the conference, introduces opening speakers—among them Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings—and the first of two panels. The first panel explores the impact of climate extremes. Read more about the conference at www.climateextremes.com and continue the conversation at #climateextremestx
