Today we're using the Philosopher's Rock compressor and a Catalinbread Callisto Chorus/Vibrato for an early Andy Summers tone. The finger stretching 'add 9' takes some getting used to but it wouldn't sound the same with ordinary chords. The Message In A Bottle riff on the Telecaster mixed with a little comp and chorus produces an uncommon tone, a common thread in Police music. The pre-chorus of the tune contrasts with simple power chords that build tension until the graceful strums of a C#minor and a jangling A chord.
