The legendary Blackbird Studios has been studio of choice for some of the world’s greatest artists, from Pearl Jam to Bruce Springsteen.  With eight rooms consisting of the world’s greatest gear and musical instruments as well as fourteen hundred microphones, Blackbird has quickly become known as one of the greatest recording facilities in the world.

Blackbird’s owner and patriarch John McBride is a man of both the studio and stage, where he’s done live sound for Garth Brooks and his wife, country star Martina McBride.  In 2013 John got together with Steven Slate and decided it was time to let more audio engineers experience the sound of Blackbird.

In the Spring of 2014, John recorded Blackbird Drums Expansion for the STEVEN SLATE DRUMS 4 Virtual Instrument and TRIGGER drum replacer.  Utilizing three of Blackbird’s classic rooms including the chambers of rooms A and D, tons of vintage mics and gear, classic drum kits from an era spanning fifty years, and of course, John’s amazing engineering talent, Blackbird Drums is one of the most amazing drum libraries you’ll ever experience. From vintage to modern and everything in between, Slate Drums users will savor the sounds of six new kick drum samples, ten new snare samples, seven new sets of toms, two new hit hats, one new ride, and four new crashes.

“People come from all over the world to get the sound that Blackbird offers, with a particular emphasis on the drum sound that we get here.  I’m delighted that with Blackbird Drums, they can now get this sound right from their home studios”, said John McBride.

Blackbird Drums is being previewed at NAMM 2015 at the Slate Booth 6921, and will be available soon after NAMM.
