The Pearl and Stanley Goodman Latin American Art Collection was on view at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale May 8 - December 5, 2010. The exhibition showcased the collection of more than 75 works that the Goodmans, long-time residents of Fort Lauderdale, had collected since the mid-1980s by major Latin American modernists, such as as Joaquín Torres García, Frida Kahlo, Wifredo Lam. José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, and Rufino Tamayo.

They collected Latin American art because, as they have pointed out: “It tells a story usually with a clear political and social message.” In 2012, the Goodmans promised their growing collection to the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale so that it can be enjoyed by museum visitors and serve as a focus for the Museum’s Pearl and Stanley Latin American Art Research Center, initiated and supported through their continuing generosity.
