Original Hymir's Kettle folk-song, based on the 'Lay of Volund' present in the great heathen-verse corpus now known as the 'Poetic Edda' or 'Saemundr Edda'. As far as the recording goes, there's a few rough spots, and I wanted to re-record it with the new tune-ups on my Irish bouzouki, but listening to it I figure it's good enough, especially because it's been awhile since my last feature on the Hymir's Kettle channel. The video is a recycling of Norwegian landscape pics, I used for 'The Festival of the Einherjar', but if someone would like to present their own own collage for this video, I would greatly appreciate it, personal message me if you're interested or have something.

This is a good song. May you please post the lyrics in the video description?

I much appreciate this travelog, recalling an all-too-brief stay in Norway, and of our tour of the grandest of fjords...
:) check out my song "The Victory Feast" (its on this channel); its an instumental (only music) but it was inspired by the Victory Feast in Beowulf after Grendels defeat. A few years back I actually recorded a pagan-metal album entirely Beowulf-theme (the album had about 7 tracks, each song being a stage in the story, in order), but that album has not been released, and would probably need to be fully rerecorded to do so :p but now that you mention it, I think I will I do some folk stuff for it
Indeed I agree with you, and had the same thought - thus I'm consciously moving back into the Old Germanic vein. As a matter of fact I'm working on a new song at the moment with "Baldrs Draumar (might be known to some as Vegtamskviða)" as the lyrics. a poem from the Poetic Edda - and I am using the original verse in Old Norse. Be sure to check it out when its up :)
:) I agree, I've come to be very proud of what Hymir's Kettle is becoming. I've made a few celtic-myth songs, which are my latest uploads, but I plan on getting around to more Norse stuff again :) hails
lol :) I'm glad you enjoy it; this is one of my favorite original tunes
