On Saturday, November 15, 2014 PathMakers to Peace honored Noam Chomsky and 30 years of Brooklyn For Peace. The reception and gala dinner was held at the historic Plymouth Church in Brooklyn Heights in NYC.

Noam discusses the historical conditions confronting working people whom he equates to a long standing history of slavery, racism and almost institution attacks on specific groups of people within the US and the present criminalization of black life and understanding the nature of the adversary
He discusses the lack of the historical memory within the US. He goes into the long history of violence towards labor organizers with them fighting back most recently during the last great depression and during Roosevelt’s New Deal. Eventually we come to the last 30 years of labor being crushed back starting during the Regan Years.

Noam talks in details of a somewhat consistent theme that he calls the two shadows that fall upon this planet, one being the proliferation of Nuclear Weapons “including Russia and he US” and second Global Warming, Both shadows having the possibility severe impact on altering life both now and in the future on this planet.

He speaks to a much more familiar theme in the US rapid increase of production of fossil fuels. That increase with the possibility of an oil glut which seems to bear truth recently to OPEC’s price war against fracking interest in the US. He then says that the majority of US Population and Global Scientist believe that we need to become much more active in fighting environmental issues. Also new economic redistribution of wealth and that people needs and the are impacting so many have no translation to governing policies. These policies are effectively trying to disfranchise targeted groups of people of economic strata and color of having any participation in the governance of their lives.
