Video shows a running violet wand manufactured by Norisan in Germany, 1931. These devices were sold for electrotherapy, and contain a Tesla transformer delivering a harmless high voltage, high frequency current. The current is transmitted to the skin by capacitive coupling, using Neon gas filled glass electrodes of various shapes. The effect is either a small heating (diathermy) when the glass electrode touches the skin, or a tingling sensation when sparks jump from the electrode slightly removed from the skin.
