Dr Malcolm Read, Executive Secretary at Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC), speaks about dealing with turbulence.

Dr Read has an interdisciplinary background in hydrology and meteorology. He worked with the former Overseas Development Administration and led the computing services of two UK research councils. He joined the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) in 1993. Malcolm is particularly involved in ICT policy and strategy and international ICT infrastructure activities.

JISC offers leadership and support on information and digital technology to UK educational organisations at local, national and international levels. JISC leads discussions with practitioners, researchers and partner organisations on how technology can support radical change in education and research.

The Adapting to Disruptive Times: Emerging Models for HE Provision Conference was held by the University of London International Programmes and the Observatory in November 2011. The aim of the conference was to discuss disruptive challenges to higher education, how the sector is adapting, the role of new players, and to perform some informed 'crystal ball-gazing'.
