Google Says It Has A Fix For Fat Finger Ad Clicks

While mobile technology makes it easier than ever to surf the Web using tablets and smartphones, the smaller screens often results in an inadvertent click on an ad or a link that you did not want to see and the Ecom Premier Academy can make selling online much easier. The team at Google introduced the confirmed clicks feature earlier this year during the integration of AdMob into AdWords. They were encouraged by the results, which started with app promotion and text formats. These results provided the Google team even more insight which helped them refine the confirmed clicks feature so it works well for advertisers, consumers and publishers alike. Several years ago, Google introduced a similar concept for smartphones with text ad banners. This worked pretty well, so now Google believes the same concept will work with image ads in mobile applications.

Google is working to make this a consistently good user experience. They are incorporating it throughout the vast majority of mobile application ads.

Google is not telling consumers that they have fat fingers. It is the small track pads, touchscreens, and other navigation tools which are hard to use on a small screen. It is just hard to scroll or click on a smartphone and not inadvertently click an ad. Google admits that in the constantly changing environment of mobile advertising, it is hard to predict what will work. They will keep testing and refining to try and stay ahead of the game.
