The Senate Transportation and Housing Committee with a 9-0 unanimous and bipartisan vote approved Senate Bill 1149 by Senator Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) to reform the San Francisco Bay Area's regional governance system. This bill would create the Bay Area Regional Commission to coordinate regional planning and policy decisions dealing with Bay Area Regional Commission. SB 1149 represents the first reform in regional governance since the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) was created in 1970.
