Empowering the forgotten children of Okha Mandal.mpg

Over the years, the issue of girl education and woman employment has received some attention in the Okha Mandal region. However, not much has been done to change the status quo -- Girls are still discouraged to attend high school and educated women still face high unemployment. Even though Bhashaben Patel (Education Coordinator for Tata Chemical's CSR arm, TCSRD) has the determination to change the status quo, she faces several obstacles in terms of social and economic backwardness of the region and, TCSRD's lack of commitment to the issue. In light of this, if Bhashaben will need to formalize an action plan that will overcome these hurdles in a systematic and focused manner if she truly wants to empower the forgotten children of Okha Mandal.
