Social Work responds to local and national needs. On completion, this programme offers a generic qualification that enables you to work with a range of professionals and service users from diverse backgrounds.

The skills inherent in Social Work are the primary focus of the programme, which is delivered by a teaching team that consists of people who all have a considerable range of Social Work practice experience.

Funding: For students commencing study in September 2012 onwards, funding may be available, subject to confirmation by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Brings together the very personal skills of listening and communication, with the ability to assess and act, and the need to work in partnership with service users to build relationships based on mutual trust and respect.

Covering all aspects of Social Work, the course prepares you to work in a wide range of areas which include health, education, police and specialist social work agencies.

University is firmly established as the region's largest supplier to the NHS for health and social services, and enjoys an excellent reputation with employers.

Spend up to 50% of your time on placement gaining first-hand work experience from Year 1; you need to complete a minimum of 200 days of assessed practice work with contrasting service user groups.

After graduation, you are eligible to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) to practice as a professional Social Worker.
