Parastou Forouhar makes works in a variety of media, including photographs, textiles, and installations, combining traditional and modern, beauty and violence to explore questions of exile, belonging, and memory. Here, Forouhar covers the walls and floor of the Gallery with elegant lines of Farsi calligraphy, variously recording names and elements of words. The meaning of her script is fragmented, obscure even to those familiar with the language.
