Exotic cuisine, colorful decor, and exceptional dancing are just a few words that sum up the sights at Jefferson Elementary on Friday, May 13. Students were given the opportunity to explore the cultures of France, China, Egypt, Spain and Japan, along with other nations, all from the comforts of their own campus.
"Culture Day was an expansion of simply celebrating the Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo," Principal Manny Olivo said. "We decided to expand it to cover more cultures and give our students an opportunity to explore and experience different ways of life."
Planning for this day began back in November and allowed each grade level to incorporate the selected country's location, language, music and art into their curriculum and also spilled over into other classes such as music, P.E. and time students spent in the library.
