Broncos coach John Fox got a jump start on defending his quarterback's legacy Sunday night, but he couldn't say what he wanted to.

Asked what he'd say to someone who questioned Peyton Manning's greatness after a two-pick night in his 12th playoff loss (against 11 wins), Fox began to nearly splutter.

"I'd say, . . . I can't really say it out loud, right here," Fox replied. "I'd get in trouble.

"Ludicrous would be proper English."

(Of course, the quote sheet given to the media in the press box, likely typed up by an intern or someone with a modern autocorrect dictionary, said "Ludacris," which would have been way funnier.)

But it's clear either way, Fox will have another more explicit version of that single when he steps away from the microphones.
