Mr. Harron is one of my long time heroes...ever since I was a little kid watching Hee Haw with my Grandparents on Saturday nights. I had a secret crush on "Charlie KORN Farquharson" way back then...and boy, do I mean it was a SECRET! I remember everyone else in my school swooning over Scott Biao and Andy Gibb...and I was thinking about Jonathan Frid and Charlie! LOL!!! (I was an odd kid....and it has carried over!) I always looked forward to hearing him read the news and he would always make me laugh. Charlie was always so jolly and upbeat you couldn't help but laugh. And I loved the way he missed the buttons on his sweater and it would be all crooked and uneven. I recently saw an old episode of Hee Haw on TV and that got me to thinking about him all over again...so I did a little research online...and what I found out about this amazing actor...simply blew me away. Most people only know him here in the USA from his 18 year stint on Hee Haw...but he has done so much more than "that". He began his career at the age of 10 as a caricature cartoonist...and then from that became a child actor. He served in the Canadian Royal Air Force during WW2...studied classical Shakespearian acting in England...co-wrote a famous musical (Anne of Green Gables)...he has written over a dozen books...recorded several comedy albums...he has performed plays on Broadway, been in a Ballet and even played a mute in an Opera...he has hosted both a radio talk show and a TV talk show in Canada...and in between all of this, he has found the time to be on countless TV shows and motion pictures. Not to mention all the Humanitarian organizations he donates his time and talents to. The man is a virtual entertainment legend and genius! And is ambidextrous to boot!! But you know, it appears to me, that despite all of Mr. Harron's success, he seems like a deeply saddened and somber person. In fact he is nothing at all like his " happy corn-spun" creation: Charlie. I keep sensing a deep sadness which radiates about him...it's almost as if he is carrying the whole weight of the world on his shoulders. I think he has the most beautiful, yet, saddest eyes I have ever seen. I hope he knows how much he has touched the lives of his fans...and I also hope he knows what he needs to do, and will follow his heart and do it...if he has not done it already. I hope you all enjoy this tribute...please rate and comment if you do! Thank you ever so much! :)
