Honestly if you haven't seen the Japanese versions of the Ring films, you owt it to yourself to watch them :-)
Oh, and John Carpenter's 'The Thing'. Amazing film, and it actually holds up pretty well, considering its age. Don't see the original though, it's just one long series of doors being opened.
The last movie that scared me was The Ring, but I was fourteen when I saw it. I've seen it again in the ten years since, plus the sequel and the original Japanese films, and none of them are truly frightening. I don't think Hollywood can make scary films anymore. Blood and gore aren't scary, and everything else has already been done. However, there are some really good ones out there, even if they aren't really scary. I need to stop using the word scary...Anyway, 28 Days Later is the best.
