Fingerprint recognition + HTTP Comet + event listeners + remapping of tablet buttons. I chopped up my old ThinkPad X41 tablet to do this; the LCD is hot-glued to the door (sturdy but allows easy removal at the end of the year) and the chassis is mounted to the back of the door. To connect them I unscrewed the eyepiece and threaded the wiring through the small hole.

There's a bit of shell scripting and a small C program on the client side to drive the fingerprint reader, and general system configuration voodoo is involved for setting up the browser in hack-proof kiosk mode, rotating the screen and digitizer on startup, etc. etc. I will release the source for the fingerprint reader program as soon as I figure out licensing; it has to be linked to a binary blob due to lack of identification support in libfprint, and so I can't license it GPL. It will probably be BSD, and I need to figure out if I am allowed to include UPEK's header files.
This does not yet unlock the door as I'm waiting on the Arduino and servo to arrive, and still planning out how that will work hardware- and software-wise. However eventually I will be locking and unlocking my door using my fingerprint.
