Mariama Kakay originally born in Sierra Leone, West Africa but raised in Riverdale, MD. I went to nursing school and obtained my LPN degree but before I could finish that I found out I was pregnant with my son Tahj. I finished nursing school in April of 2015 and gave birth to my son on June 4th, 2015. Hands down the best day of my life. I was a single mom from the start and nothing has changed as of yet! I have an amazing village and support system! I came back home in 2018 to be closer to my family and to pursue my BSN degree while getting help from my friends and family.  I started Moms Living Single when I moved back home in 2018. I felt like there wasn’t enough recognition being given to Single moms and just single parents in general. So I started this movement for other single moms out there to not only be recognized but to know they aren’t alone. I want to change the narrative because single moms are much more than society thinks. We are strong as hell and as I always say “ We bend but don’t break”
