Ceviche Soho Restaurant Manager Angel Tapullima is the first Peruvian to take part in the Marathon des Sables (MdS), ranked as 'the toughest footrace on Earth'. He is running in the heat of the Sahara desert with temperatures up to 50 degree centigrade for the equivalent of 5.5 marathons in six days - a total of 254km (156 miles). Angel is raising money for our partner charity Amantani, which runs children's educational homes in the Andean mountains of Peru.

Sponsored by Ceviche, Asics Europe and supported by fitness expert Harry Jameson, he has undertaken intensive training since winning a place last autumn, often running for up to three hours after finishing a shift at the restaurant at midnight.

He has spent the last month training on the sands in the heat of northern Peru to help acclimatise to the conditions.
