Rutter Center at UCSF Mission Bay on May 18. Marc Tessier-Lavigne, PhD, president at Rockefeller University, addressed the graduates with a speech titled "Innovation, Risk-taking and the Transformation of Biomedicine." A neurobiologist and leader in the study of brain development, Tessier-Lavigne served on the UCSF faculty from 1991 to 2001. Jeffrey Bluestone, PhD, closed the ceremony thanking the graduate students for driving UCSF towards greater innovation and discovery.
