The Toronto Comics Arts Festival is the most jam-packed fiesta of cartooning talent you can find all cramed under one roof. This year, rather than show you the festival, we wanted to take a close look at the methods and means contemporary cartoonists use to express themselves today in a two-part series called State of the Art.
Our second part, Web Comics, looks at the next generation of cartoonists who are breaking new ground online. This year's TCAF featured an entire pavilion devoted to webcomics, where fans could meet the creators. And no wonder--they're telling the stories they want to tell, all while reaching an audience of millions worldwide. Webcomics creators have made a whole new model that conventional publishers could learn something from! Featuring interviews with Ryan North (Dinosaur Comics), Erika Moen (Dar! A Super Girly Top Secret Diary) and Ramon Perez (Kukuburi, Butternut Squash).
