Cross connection is the undesirable reversal of water from its intended direction in any plumbing or pipeline system.

Backflow can be dangerous because it can allow drinking water in plumbing systems to become contaminated and unusable.

A backflow prevention device that is properly installed, tested and maintained can reliably prevent the backflow of water of an unknown quality from flowing back into the community's water system.

Backflow prevention devices are required for residential homes with irrigation systems and for all Commercial buildings.
