Purpose:
• Find all of your missing music in iTunes at the same time.
Who's it for?:
• People who…
○ Have music missing from their iTunes library (denoted by an exclamation mark symbol).
○ Know the physical path to their missing music on their computer
How to do it:
• Open iTunes.
○ An exclamation mark symbol appears next to missing tracks you've tried to play
• Click the menu drop-down in the upper-left-hand corner
○ Click the "Preferences…" button in the menu that appears
• Click on the "gear" icon to go to the "Advanced" preferences tab.
○ The advanced tab allows you to change the location which iTunes uses to search for music.
• Click the "Change…" button.
○ Navigate to the folder where your missing music is stored and click "Select Folder."
§ It is okay if there is music in subdirectories of this folder; iTunes will still find them.
• Click the "OK" button on the preferences window and iTunes will save your new preferences.
• Double click one of your missing songs
○ Click "Locate"
§ After you select the location of any of your missing files, iTunes will automatically locate the rest.
