Grade 9 students had a whole day workshop on Stopmotion Animation as a part of the recently concluded Children's International Film Festival at Kunskapsskolan Gurgaon. The facilitator Mr. Shaaz Ahmed is a parent of our Pre Nursery students Raabia and Aayat. He is an innovative storyteller having a natural flair for out of the box visualization, with a belief that just as every script / narrative or experience is unique on its own, its representation in the retelling has to be that unique and true to its essence. It is with this premise that he explores mediums and methods in animation to make each film a unique experience, both for the maker as well as the audience. And owing to this attribute, no two films of Shaaz look or feel the same! The students learnt the technique of Stop motion animation (also called stop frame animation). This is an animation technique that is captured one frame at time, with physical objects that are moved between frames. When you play back the sequence of images rapidly, it creates the illusion of movement.
