I'm Dr. Sandra Jowers-Barber, assistant professor of history at the University of the District of Columbia. Welcome to another edition of UDC Forum. I am delight to have one of my favorite artist as my guest. Synthia Saint James is a world renowned multicultural visual artist, architectural designer, educator and popular speaker. Her body of work also includes illustrating 17 children's books, two poetry books and a cookbook. She is best known for the cover art of Terry McMillan's book Waiting to Exhale and for designing the first Kwanzaa stamp for the United States Postal Service, which was first issued in 1997. She has garnered numerous awards over her forty plus year career, including the prestigious Trumpet Award in 2010. Welcome.
