What happens in a museum prep lab anyway? How do you go from dead animal that comes into the museum, to research collection specimen? Darren Copley is just the person to ask.
This video is a documentation of a marmot dissection and illustration workshop put on by the Royal BC Museum Learning department in early May 2015. Participants spent time both in the prep lab, as well as the bird and mammal collection. In addition to witnessing the dissection, they also spent time illustrating the wide variety of animals within the natural history collection.
The star animal of the day was of course the marmot though.
