My 14th video in a series I'm working on for some of my favorite songs from the past.

"Old Blue" was released in 1969 on The Byrd's album Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde. It was the first of three songs about dogs that The Byrds released, the others being "Fido" from Ballad of Easy Rider and "Bugler" from Farther Along.. This was an old traditional song that The Byrds gave thier treatment to.

This song is one of my favorites songs recorded by The Byrds. I remember first hearing it around 1978 when I was really getting into The Byrds and was buying all their back catalogue.

It's a sad, lyrical song about the loss of a beloved dog. Anyone who has ever truly experienced the loyalty and love that man's best friend can bring into their life will easily relate to the song....for those who cannot....well, that's really a shame.

The video isn't very advanced and the song is pretty short. I didn't spend much time on it as I wanted to keep it farily simple....but I did really want to get this one out.

The awesome clip of the dog in slo motion is from http://www.youtube.com/user/SlowFastM... Channel......please visit this channel for some really excellent slo mo and fast mo videos.....brilliantly beautiful!!

[Lyrics]
Well I had an old dog and his name was Blue
Yes, I had an old dog and his name was Blue
Well I had an old dog and his name was Blue
Bet ya five dollars he's a good dog too

Old Blue chased a possum up a holler (hollow) limb
Blue chased a possum up a holler limb
Blue chased a possum up a holler limb
The possum growled, Blue whined at him

Bye bye Blue
You good dog you
Bye bye Blue
You good dog you

When old Blue died he died so hard
He shook the ground in my back yard
We lowered him down with a golden chain
And every link we called his name

Bye bye Blue You good dog you
Bye bye Blue
You good dog you

My old Blue he was a good old hound
You'd hear him hollering miles around
When I get to Heaven first thing I'll do
I'll grab my horn and call for Blue

Bye bye Blue
You good dog you
Bye bye Blue
You good dog you

Two things that I'm very glad to have experienced in my life....The Byrds...and especially.....dogs!
