This video has been recorded during a scientific experiment to investigate the frequency of egg ventilation in shore crabs (Carcinus maenas).

The female, egg-bearing crab was placed in a plastic bowl with natural sea water and only observed (not harmed) during the experiment. It was returned to the wild afterwards.
