SFM - Getting Half-Life Episode 2 Assets into SFM

Steam is going through changes, Half-Life 2, Episode 1 and Episode 2 are still using the old GCF cache files at the time this video was made.

So this video shows you how you would get these assets into SFM (until they are ported to the Pipeline anyway).

This video demonstrates how to get Episode 2 files, for Episode 1, just find the proper GCF files and follow the instructions using them.

The Folder created in the SFM\Games folder and the Game entry in the gameinfo.txt file would be ep1 instead of ep2 as shown as shown in the video for Episode 1.

Most of the Half-Life 2 (original game) models are already included in SFM, but you would follow the steps in the video to extract the other Map and sound files and particle systems. You would throw the HL2 files into the HL2 folder that already exists in the Game Folder.

As the gameinfo.txt file already has an entry to HL2, you will not have to update that.

Program needed for Extracting the files from the gcf files is called GCFScape the most current version at the making of this video is 1.8.4
