Fancy a kebab? That's what a lot of people say when they're on their way home from the pub having consumed more booze than is possibly good for them. And what they mean is a doner kebab. And what donner means is a huge cylinder of compressed meat that rotates on a vertical spit in front of a heat source. The meat is sliced very thinly and stuffed into pitta bread with salad and garlic mayonnaise or chilli sauce. Doner is Turkish in origin, and usually is made from lamb or chicken. The massive cylinders of donner meat are usually made in a factory, but I decided to make my own and it turned out pretty well. So, homemade lamb doner kebab is now a thing.
