Apple box labels identified and promoted Washington State apples on the ends of wooden fruit crates from the early 1900s until the 1960s when they were replaced by cardboard cartons. From the valley and orchards, the art on the end of apple boxes has left an enduring history of the days when Wenatchee was the Apple Capital of the World
