Here's final tweaked HD set comparison to a real vintage '61 PAF set. The HD Lite bridge and HD BN neck, with some final tweaks to the bridge to match the sweetness of the real PAF and dial it in to the final recipe. The '61 PAF's and the HD set are both short alnico 5 magnets, both vintage and HD sets are approximately 8.2K bridge and 7.6K neck.
This is about as close as anyone is ever going to get to the real thing, the HD's are so close now that its almost impossible to tell them apart. The amount of research, technical lab work and experimentation to nail those tones took nearly 10 years now. These are machine wound to the correct vintage pattern found in all PAF's, the magnetic circuit parts are all machined one by one in my own shop, but there is an incredible amount of detail that goes into these that simply can't be shared with anyone. Try closing your eyes and listen without watching the screen to see which pickups are being played.
There is really almost no more research work to do on these pickups, there may be 2 or 3 more HD version pickups, to round out the line-up but there won't be any new recipes, as I've pretty much standardized what I'm doing to get these results. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel to be notified of future additions, plus other new types of pickups I'll be doing very shortly that will work in any humbucker equipped guitar. Enjoy!
