Presentation Outline:

- Structured Data (CPT-4, ICD-9, ICD-10, RxNORM, SNOMED-CT, LOINC) is required for data mining and interoperability

- Interoperability entails connections between (Radiology Information Systems) RIS, Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), EHR, Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), and Billing systems.

- Structured reporting problematic because requires change in work habits and too much time for data entry, and current methods produce a limited amount of structured data

- New NLP Paradigm: structured data capture using speech recognition and natural language processing (NLP)

- New NLP Paradigm is more efficient and complete, and requires no change in work habits

- Examples of Natural Language Processing (NLP)

- Workflow involving New NLP Paradigm
