In a scathing rebuke during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, called on Attorney General William Barr to resign, saying he is no different from others in the Trump administration who have sacrificed “their once decent reputation for the grifter and liar who sits in the oval office.” Hirono accused Barr of staying in contact with Trump during the investigation and for acting as, in her mind, the president’s personal lawyer instead of the lawyer of the American people. Sen. Lindsey Graham, the committee chairman, called out Hirono for “slandering” Barr and threatened to withhold her time to speak.
