Some people say I am crazy, but my favorite track of all time was Jolly Rogers MX just south of Seattle. Unfortunately, there is a gigantic housing development where the track once stood. I went there last year to see if anything was left. The first corner and downhill are still there but are mostly grown over with blackberry bushes. The gigantic hill climb was almost unrecognizable, but the big ruts are still there. Other than that, the developer must have gone in with a gigantic earth mover and flattened everything down to the sand section in the bottom (these clips don't show the sand section).
As for the race, what can I say? I think this was the closest I ever got to beating Jay Whipple. He was gaining on me pretty fast, but I may have been able to hold him off one more lap if the lapper wasn't in the way. If there is one thing about my history riding the pro class in motocross, it is that something bad ALWAYS happened if I ever found myself in a really good position.
