The Smiths Karaoke - The world won't listen Har tjuvfilmat denna otroligt coola utställning på Tramway i Glasgow. Phil Collins. Relating to performance-based and conceptual approaches to video and photography, Collins explores the nuances of social relations in various locations and global communities. He often works in regions of social and political unrest, and employs elements of popular culture, low-budget television and reportage-style documentary to address the camera as an instrument of both truth and deception.
Recent projects include the world wont listen (2004-2007), a karaoke video trilogy produced in Colombia, Turkey and Indonesia with fans of indie-rock band The Smiths; the return of the real (2007), a talk-show confessional with former participants of reality TV in the UK and zasto ne govorim srpski (na srpskom) (2008), a 16mm film which investigates the relationship between language and memory in ethnically divided Kosovo.
Phil Collins is currently based in Glasgow and Berlin. His work has been the subject of recent exhibitions at Dallas Museum of Art (2007), Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh (2007), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (2006) and Tate Britain, London (2006).
