A documentary about a modern Maori fairytale that fuses the power of live orchestra with the spectacle of dance.

The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and Atamira Dance Company combine to produce a stage spectacle.

A re-imagining of the fairy tales from Stravinsky's The Firebird
Suite, Te Manu Ahi brings together 150 students from every corner of Auckland, New Zealand's largest city.

Te Manu Ahi follows Catherine Blomfield and Moss Patterson as they prepare the students for the performance of a lifetime. With a cast from ages 5 to 25 and a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, Te Manu Ahi unites them with dance. The show also features Auckland's sound of the city, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, to bring power to the performance.

With a high energy of colour, sound and movement, this is a story that will inspire and amaze, with breathtaking performances to behold.
