Made with Vocaloid 2 and MikuMikuDance 5.08. English and Finnish subtitles are included. Please turn on the annotations to find out Miku's birthday present.
My first MikuMikuDance video, yay! Today is the 18th birthday of Vocaloid Miku Hatsune. This video is my way of contributing to the celebration. Happy birthday, Miku!
Development history: I started making the video on Aug. 28th. I wasn't very prolific that day but I did manage to build the house interior and find the walking motion data for Miku. The following days I had other plans and I couldn't really concentrate on making the video. The bulk of the work was done on Miku's birthday so I had to be quite fast. Luckily I didn't have to concentrate on making the music, because I had already done that ages ago as a present for a friend. All I had to do was to change the name to Miku. :) The Vocaloid speeches were done with the help of MikuMikuVoice. First, I recorded the speeches with my own voice. Then, I used MMV to make vsq files out of my own speeches. Then, I opened the vsq files with Vocaloid and made Luka, Rin and Len "talk" my speeches. It didn't turn out natural sounding, at all! :D I had to fine-tune the vsq files with Vocaloid, myself, to make the talking sound more natural, but it didn't get much better (and time was against me). Besides, Japanese singing synthesizers aren't really made for talking in Finnish, right? :D Making the video itself took about six hours. As it was my first time animating with MMD, production was slow and clumsy. Anyway, I didn't have the time to fully animate the video, so the rest of the video is audio only. I used Windows Movie Maker to combine all the audio with the raw avi file generated by MikuMikuDance.
