To promote reference services, Mooresville Public Library (Mooresville, Indiana) presents a music parody video, "Go Ask Reference," written and directed by Rachel Montgomery, MPL teen librarian, and storyboarded by Rachel Montgomery & Meghan Adams, MPL adult programming coordinator, who is the vocalist (parody lyrics by Rachel Montgomery). MPL staff play various "Alice in Wonderland" characters in the video. The video is a parody of the song "White Rabbit," by Jefferson Airplane. The karaoke instrumental soundtrack was purchased from iTunes for satirical use only. In use of this music, MPL claims the parodies & satire exception to the federal copyright laws.

Parody Lyrics are included below (copyright [c] 2013 by Rachel Montgomery. All rights reserved. Used by permission.)

One book makes you smarter
And one book makes you bawl
And the ones that the web gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Reference
They'll answer the call

And if you go chasing answers
And the web has you in its thrall
When you can't make sense of anything
And you've hit a brick wall
Call Reference
When the problem's still small

When teachers give you homework
To find out what you know
And you're feeling overwhelmed
And your mind is moving slow
Go ask Reference
They'll know where to go

When reports or assignments
Have filled you with dread
And you feel like you're moving backwards
And your intellect has fled

Remember what the librarian said
Feed your head
Feed your head
