What is the sharing economy, and what is a sharing city? How can the principles of the grassroots sharing economy be applied to towns and cities in ways that strengthen local economies, empower the underserved, and increase community resilience?
Join us for a Transition US TeleSeminar where we explore these questions and provide you with a packet of viable policy solutions that can remove barriers to the grassroots sharing economy in your region.
Speaker bio: Yassi Eskandari directs the City Policies and Community Currencies programs at the Sustainable Economies Law Center (theselc.org). Her work identifies the legal barriers to the grassroots sharing economy, including shared transportation, shared housing, urban food systems, and worker cooperatives -- culminating in the first policy brief of its kind, Policies for Shareable Cities: A Primer for Urban Leaders.Yassi also dedicates much of her time to producing essential legal resources for complementary currency systems such as local currencies, barter networks, and time banks which foster inclusive, community-based exchange.
